SWEDEN : Buffalo Technology lanserar USB 3.0-kort för bärbara datorer
Med USB 3.0 Express Interface Card från Buffalo får även bärbara datorer enkel tillgång till de nya och snabba hårddiskarna med USB 3.0

Buffalo Technology lanserar nu ett USB-3.0 kort för bärbara datorer i form av ett ExpressCard. Med Buffalo USB 3.0 Express Interface Card kan därmed alla som har en bärbar dator med ExpressCard-plats dra nytta av den nya och avsevärt snabbare USB 3.0-tekniken.
USB 3.0 erbjuder överföringshastigheter på upp till 5 Gbps vilket är runt 10 gånger snabbare än den idag dominerande USB 2.0-standarden. Expansionskortet har två USB 3.0-kontakter och dessa är även fullt bakåtkompatibla med USB 2.0. Kortet passar i alla datorer med ExpressCard/34 eller /54. Stöd finns för Windows 7 (32- och 64-bit), Windows Vista (32- och 64-bit) och Windows XP.
Buffalo var först ut på marknaden med en extern USB 3.0-disk i höstas (DriveStation™ HD-HXU3) och lanserade då även ett så kallat kontrollerkort (IFC-PCIE2U3) till stationära datorer som gör det möjligt att utnyttja den snabbare hastigheten trots att datorns moderkort inte har stöd för USB 3.0. Få moderkort och ännu färre förkonfigurerade datorer, särskilt vad gäller bärbara datorer, har än så länge inbyggt stöd för USB 3.0.
USB 3.0 är en stor förbättring i hastighet för extern lagring och genom denna lösning kan även användare med bärbara datorer dra nytta av detta. Det dröjer innan datortillverkarna utrustar sina modeller med moderkort som har USB 3.0, men det är inte längre ett hinder och även äldre modeller kan nu utnyttja tekniken, säger Paul Hudson, Sales Director Northern Europe på Buffalo
